Background

Lightfoot Defence Ltd had manufactured a specialist Multi-room Refrigeration Plant (MRP) that will be fitted to the Brazilian Navy flag ship Aircraft Carrier, as part of a multi- million pounds refit. The MRP was to be shipped by sea to Brazil and then stored for up to five years in Brazil before being fitted.

1) The Task

The MRP was required to be protected from corrosion during shipment and storage. There was also a requirement for periodic checks of gauges to be carried out.

HITEK-nology Solutions were approached to provide a solution to the problem.

2) Product Used

VpCI 132 Foam Pads
VpCI MilCorr Shrink Film

3) The Solution

VpCI 132 foam pads were placed around the ACU.

VpCI MilCorr Shrink Film was then placed around the MRP and shrunk into place using a propane powered gas gun. A zip door was also fitted to allow any checks to be made and also for the VpCI 132 foam pads to be changed at the two year point.

This treatment has resulted in the low cost storage of this high value asset for a period of up to five years.
